A group of meerkats is called a mob, gang, or clan, usually with 10–30 members. They’re super social and cooperate to survive—kind of like a tight-knit family.
Each group is led by a dominant female who makes most of the babies. Other females usually don’t reproduce and instead help raise the pups.
They eat scorpions and are immune to their venom! Adults even teach babies how to safely handle dangerous prey.
Meerkats love to sunbathe in the morning—standing upright with their bellies facing the sun to warm up after cold desert nights.
